This article examines the relevance of the career influences model proposed by Fisher and Stafford (1999). After a presentation of involved dimensions, a search is conducted on students from the Republic of Moldova. The results, employing the same methodology as for the North American sample, show that the model is partially transferable to the main principles of a culturally different population, who live in countries of Eastern Europe is characterized by a transition economy. Nevertheless, the discussion emphasizes the need to expand and redefine the theme of external influences, whose heuristic value is undeniably in work psychology and career counseling.
