La presente ricerca si propone di studiare le relazioni tra richieste e risorse, individuali e organizzative, e le condizioni di benessere in un gruppo di insegnanti. A 209 insegnanti (età media = 47.49; 80% femmine) provenienti da 201 scuole secondarie lombarde di I e II grado è stato chiesto di compilare un questionario che raccoglieva informazioni rispetto a: i dati socioanagrafici e le caratteristiche delle loro scuole; la percezione di alcune condizioni lavorative rela- tive alla gestione della disciplina degli studenti, al rapporto con i familiari, al sovraccarico lavorativo, al supporto del dirigente scolastico e al lavoro di gruppo con gli altri insegnanti; il burnout, l’engagement e la soddisfazione lavorativa. Attraverso una path analysis si è potuto evidenziare come due dimensioni del burnout e l’engagement siano fortemente influenzati dalla qualità della relazione con il dirigente scolastico. La gestione dei problemi disciplinari degli studenti sembra invece influenzare solo debolmente i livelli di burnout o di engagement. Inoltre, il supporto del dirigente e il rapporto con i genitori influenzano la job satisfaction tramite la mediazione del burnout e dell’engagement. I risultati sottolineano la necessità di prendersi cura del benessere degli insegnanti attraverso un approccio organizzativo che prenda in considerazione le risorse individuali e contestuali, le dinamiche relazionali e la gestione della scuola come un sistema integrato; particolare rilevo pare assumere la figura del dirigente scolastico.;
