This review investigates post-partum depression (PPD) in immigrants and refugees and possible barriers which may influence their help seeking behavior. For the bibliographical research, Psych- Info and Medline online databases were used, considering the period between 2004 and identifying 51 articles. Findings suggested: 1) peculiarity of needs and risk factors for PPD among immigrants; 2) the specificity of underlined and not so much studied cultural factors; 3) paucity of studies concerning social support in help seeking behavior; and finally 4) need of future research about their perceptions, social support and barriers to help seeking in order to plan possible strategies and programs of intervention.
