The debate about employability is very rich and important. This concept can be defined as a multidimensional and multidisciplinary construct and it consists in variables useful to the modern worker. This article will try to contribute to this debate on the basis of an empirical study that aimed at understanding the role of the university in relation to the Italian labor market, with particular reference to the right to higher education. We develop our reasoning on two different tracks: the first one track will cover the variables that characterize the employability; the second one will be the focus group technique as equity instrument in the service of social research, involving users of the academic institution, especially in order to encourage a reformulation of employability, on an empirical basis, because employability can be effectively a tool inclusive and serving the needs of young people in transition between university and work.
