The author describes how difficult short consultation can be for both psychotherapist and patient in the University Counselling Service. The first encounter is an epitome of emotions and facts not really understandable. The consultation should be short and sometimes the patient has to go to another psychotherapist. Therefore the psychotherapist is a transitory object. Some clinical views show the empathic immersion, contact and suddenly separation, consequently the mourning in leaving, especially in case of a referral to another psychotherapist.
Keywords: Consultation, counselling, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, inner world. transitory object.
