The article analyses some recent developments of the policies of the past in Italy and in Germany regarding the German war crimes in Italy. In particular, it deals with the question of the execution of the penalties inflicted in absentia by Italian military Tribunals as well as with the recent parliamentary debate in Italy on this topic.
