The essay analyses the relationship between Nazism/Fascism and the masses according to Elias Canetti and Emilio Gentile’s works. This relationship can be measured on the basis of the two regimes’ architectural, monumental and urban projects, of the obsession shown by dictators in the numbers of the masses, of the relationship between building the masses and destroying or compelling them. The two regimes show, through architecture and relationship with the masses, the desire to be potentially infinite and to constantly overwhelm others through the number or by means of a violent destruction.
