Jaakko Seikkula, the Finnish psychologist, driving force of the Open Dialogue method, finds inspiration for his model in the work of Michail Bachtin, a Soviet literary critic. In this article the author highlights the links between Bachtin’s interpretation of the work of Fëdor Dostoevskij, inspired by poliphonic dialoguining, and the Open Dialogue model that makes therapeutic use of it.
