The article presents reflections on issues of poetry, taking an unconventional perspective studying the initial gestures that the poet puts on paper - still fragmentary and fleeting, precious for their manifold insight into the poetic imagination. Emily Dickinson’s sketches, and the manuscripts of Italian poetic masterpieces reveal the linguistic and stylistic origins from which the works come to life.
