Conversion can be either «a violent birth», as it was for Paul on the road to Da-mascus, or a turning point, a significant change that arises from a deep crisis where con¬fu-sion and uncertainty (Paul’s three days of blindness) lead to a new opening that involves a pro¬found change in one’s life. Change is feared because in a moment of crisis we don’t know what could happen: on the one hand we fear catastrophe (Bion’s catastrophic chan¬ge), but on the other it can also be an opening to a new perspective and a new possibility. In the moment of crisis uncertainty prevails: who or what will prevail within us: a positive and constructive turn or darkness, obscurity and destructiveness. In my work and in life I will see the encounter with these moments of crisis and change.
