Kaës’ book belongs to the line of theoretical and clinical contributions that interrogate the nature of psychoanalysis by revising the current definition of the unconscious. Kaës’ research draws its starting point from the author’s experience with groups. This experience suggests him that the unconscious acquires characteristics that vary with change of the conditions of its manifestation. This idea throws light in an original way on the presence of the other inside of the individual mind and on how this presence may organise the mind.
