Il contributo si propone di redigere una rassegna della letteratura di carattere prevalentemente psicologico sulla competenza emotiva in bambini maltrattati di età prescolare e scolare, con una focalizzazione particolare sulla conoscenza e sulla regolazione emotiva. Dopo una breve presentazione delle funzioni adattative della competenza emotiva, vengono illustrati e discussi i principali risultati degli studi condotti in contesti maltrattanti, evidenziando un quadro complessivo ancora non congruente e conclusivo. Particolare enfasi viene data anche alle possibili variabili che possono influenzare la relazione tra maltrattamento e competenza emotiva, e alle ipotesi interpretative dei risultati emersi proposte all’interno dei diversi approcci teorici.;
