This contribution describes the evaluation of a Service-Learning (S-L) experience carried out with students of the Master’s Degree in Psychology in collaboration with a Public Mental Health Service (PMHS). Students explored the role of a sports association, including patients, PMHS professionals and citizens, in improving social integration. Aims. Evaluating the impact of S-L on academic learning, personal growth and commit-ment in the local community. Methods. S-L was monitored through journals and supervision sessions. Semantic analy-sis of the journals content was performed using the software T-LAB. Results. Six thematic clusters emerged related to emotional and cognitive aspects and to the difficulties arising during the experience. S-L improves the student’s capability to apply theoretical knowledge and research instru-ments to meet community needs.
