The text brings together contributions from experts of logistics and economy of the sea, even at the international level. The articles deal with the issues of the economy of the sea, with reference to the Short Shipping, in particular the Mediterranean Sea, which has seen a multiplication of motorways of the sea, especially in connection with North Africa and the Balkans, to the Greece. Motorways of the sea can make use of modal itineraries that also involve land modes of transport, along the main longitudinal and transverse corridors provided by the European Union as a matrix of traffic flows.
The contributions are the result of an invitation from the editor to the scholars in the field. Finally, have been selected 12 papers, that during the revision process were found more consistent with the theme of the volume in question.

The Scientific Committee is composed by prof. Ennio Forte, editor of the volume, by prof. Adriano Giannola, who was director of the Department of Economics, President of The SVIMEZ and the Fondazione Banco Napoli, and dr. Gianpaolo Polichetti, Manager of the Grimaldi Group.
