This paper aims at exploring the possibility of a logical-rational organization of reality. I will discuss Alfred Schütz’s contribution to this topic in The Problem of Rationality in the Social World (1943). We will show how, according to Schütz, applying the principles of traditional logic to the dynamics of everyday reality is not easy at all. Only through the typifying categories of science the observer will be able to get "a balanced picture" of a reality that would otherwise appear as perfectly logical, without ques tioning the validity of the rational method, yet paying a very high price: that of reducing the social world to a theatre of "puppets", a sort of half- animated puppets coherently, rationally and logically doing anything that typological categories of science dictate from their purely conceptual dimension
