Taking his cue from articles written by Claudio Neri, reflecting on the legal value of the expression "in faith" and revisiting the Biblical story of Job, the author takes up and elaborates how important it is for the therapist to keep a positive, trustful attitude towards the patient’s resources. The therapist should follow the patient in the darkest and most uncertain moments of his/her treatment period, defending the patient from the destructiveness of his/her diabolical Self. From this point of view, the F factor constitutes a positive testimonial feature that is embodied by the therapist especially in the most difficult stages of the treatment period. As well as being given the opportunity to open him/herself up confidently to new existential and relational horizons, the patient also - despite the ups and downs of the therapeutic relationship - feels the importance of being encouraged as a person, considering Lopez’s ideology.

Keywords: Faith, trust, narcissism, co-mentalization, encouragement, change.
