Moving from the case studies collected in this report, the paper outlines a possible geography of the production in Italy and perhaps in significant portions of Europe as well. It identifies different paths and trajectories of development related to three main territorial contexts: urban and metropolitan regions, diffused urbanizations linked to the presence of industrial districts, and internal areas. The comprehensive agenda for urban and territorial policies related to this geography should refer to different scenarios and varied project ‘explorations’. Nevertheless, the standardized form of development and the trivial idea of the territory given by main players (in economic, administrative and technical domains) leaves no room for these experimentations to be adopted as starting point of Italian urban planning policies
