The paper highlight how the control of the insular periferies - the Ponziane Islands in particular - was for the Kingdom of Naples a non-sporadic interest, which then intensified under the Bourbons dynasty. In a first phase (XVI-XVII centuries), the measure adopted were exogenous, mainly oriented to the control of the islands: in particular, by the economic point of view, linked to fishing and the coral trade; in a second phase (XVIII century) it is possible to highlight the advent of new local and non-formal actors, which concretise external impulses. The main goal of the article is to stress how the different processes were not limited to the insular or dual central-periphery dimension, but give rise to phenomena of wider scope in the complex of Tyrrhenian Sea and the western Mediterranean, showing - once again - the presence of articulated and complex inter-island relations networks.
