In the last century, great revolutions in the mass media have developed with impressive speed. The progressive weakness of the agorà, together with the wide spread of mass media and digital revolution have caused two major consequences in society. On one hand, they have created the basis for a transformation in knowledge, which has become product sold by the technology sector. On the other hand, the digital revolution has increased the belief that people are hyper-connected in the digital world. However, this is only an illusion as people are more and more a disengaged group with no ability to make changes to reality, like a political subject should do. Gregory Bateson’s ecological vision tries to overcome the schismogenesis contraposition between man and nature finding the circularity between individual, society and ecosystem, which has not become part of a new storytelling of culture and knowledge, but merits to be defended and promoted.

Keywords: Information; communication; ecology; digital revolution; agorà.
