Social networks and interactions contexts. Somali and Congolese refugees in Turin and Cape Town - This paper is based on a field research carried out in Turin and Cape Town and analyses challenges, opportunities and practices of Somali and Congolese refugees and asylum seekers. I present here some theoretical and empirical argument illustrating the importance of a situated analysis and the need to consider refugees as social actors who strategically operate using resources and endowments at their disposal. The specific setting, structured by international, national and local decisions, is here considered crucial as long as the encounter between the refugee and the society always happens in specific local communities. Besides, refugees turn out to be social actors with heterogeneous strategies and resources, building up their own ways and achieving different outcomes. Finally, looking into social networks and interactions contexts leads us to a better understanding of refugee's situation.
