How do people organize their body movements and the material and technological resources in the environment in order to work and coordinate themselves? Within an interactionist perspective, the article shows an empirical analysis of ‘non verbal communication’ as relation between action and material context and as integral part of specific professional practices. In particular the work shows the contribution that the body gives, together with other artefacts and semiotic fields, to the development of web design in an Internet company. The article also shows that the body plays a fundamental role in the coordination in group work and, more in general, in maintaining a fast and coordinated collective action.

Keywords: Body, coordination, web design, social interaction.
