The authors describe the therapeutic process in a slow-open group of psychiatric patients beginning with a consideration of the process in intersubjective terms. The authors aim to treat analysis of the group in light of the subtle link between clinical practice and research, through the use of a questionnaire that investigates the therapeutic process from two points of observation: the patient and the therapist. The group as a place to process and share experiences can help mentalization, the ability to symbolize, to link their symptoms to patterns of thought and thus attain new meanings. This experience allows to reflect on the evolution of a group process, starting from the setting changes that occur within the group itself, including the most important: the change of the conductor.

Keywords: Group process, intersubjectivity, psychiatric patients, day care center, container- contained, the group stages of life.
