This paper explores the implementation of linguistic and cultural mediation ser-vices in Bolzano’s main hospital, documenting contributing factors to its increased performance and usage. Beyond the spread perception of the service’s positive impact on the quality and efficiency of healthcare performance towards minority patients, the use and quality of the service has been favored by joint training pro-grams between health practitioners and mediators, by forms of stable embed-dedness of mediators in the healthcare context and by the adaptation of their role according to the specific needs of the various contexts.

Keywords: Mediation; healthcare services; migration; social innovation; healthcare practitioners.
