The article highlights the role of Marcello Cesa-Bianchi and the Institute of Psychology of the Medical School of the University of Milan in the birth of transcultural psychology and psychotherapy in Italy. Through field research in different cultures, theoretical elaboration and comparison with other disciplines such as evolutionary psychology and anthropology, the Cesa-Bianchi school opens up new perspectives in the various fields of cultural psychology. Of particular interest is the methodological reflection that integrates the quantitative approach of scientific psychology with the qualitative research methods of thehuman sciences.
