A large number of people is presently working in the teaching field and, according to several studies (for example, Ben-Ari, Krole, Har-Even, 2003; Greenglass, Burke and Konarsky, 1997; Rasku and Kinnunen, 2003; Pomai and Anagnostopoulou, 2003) they are experiencing discomfort, tension and, more and more often, inadequacy and threat, besides a loss of motivation and satisfaction for their job. This study takes into consideration stressful factors and the consequences at a psycho-physical level experienced by a sample of high-school teachers. Moreover it aims at verifying if there are any statistically significant differences in the level of stress noticed in some group-samples, in terms of age, sex, geographical area and years of teaching.
