The paper describes Prilleltensky’s multi-dimensional ecological model and how it can be applied at the individual, relational, organizational, community and environmental levels in relation to oppression, well-being, and the process of liberation. Factors that lead to transformation and that enhance resources and strengths in individuals and the community are examined. Finally, attention is given to the definition and explanation of the values and rights of individuals and communities in order to determine what might be the epistemic and transformative validity of the study and of any intervention within a community psychology perspective. The main aim of this article is to clarify the variables involved in the lives of the immigrants, identifying the factors of protection and risk to be considered when assessing their well being and the modalities of their integration and reception in the host country.
