Our action research, in the perspective of the ecological model of migration (Coleman 1994; Golini et al. 2001; Prilleltensky, 2008) aimed: a) to identify points of strength and problem areas perceived by Italian and members of dominant and minority ethnic groups living in a neighbourhood of Rome, b) to examine the social capital of minors and c) to enact proposals for change. About 130 adults and 220 teenagers took part in the analysis, using innovative methodologies such as group movie scripts of their community. Problems emerged not only between Italian and other migrants, but also between migrants of the dominant ethnic group and members of other minorities. However youth who had friends from different ethnic groups had a higher social capital. A series of proposals were elaborated to face the specific problems identified during the community analysis process.
