What does it mean "to embody a theory"? What is the relationship between our way of being "persons" and our way of being "psychotherapists" and "teachers"? When we choose a theory rather than another, what is the meaning we ascribe to it? What are the implications derived from the way we build a relationship with our clients and students? Starting from such questions, we tried to define the position we adopt in the relationship with our clients or students, transcending the dichotomies "personal/professional" and "emotional/cognitive". We tried to set out the "personal psychotherapeutic style" and its relationship with our theoretical assumptions. For that purpose, we availed ourselves of our experience as psychotherapists and teachers in a psychotherapeutic specialization class. Lastly, we reflected upon the difference between the space of therapy and what we can experience in a personal relationship that can sometimes lead to a change.

Keywords: To embody a theory, psychotherapeutic role, professional role, personal psychotherapeutic style.
