The article describes the therapeutic process with a divorced parents’ child, in custody to the mother. The initial symptomatology was characterized by mild depression and obsessive traits. Psychotherapy begins with the construction of the relationship, in which the therapist takes the position of the secure base and the time spent together becomes an opportunity to recognize and describe the on-going feelings, to try out different relationalship methods, to cheer the child up. As the family situation worsen, Health and Social Services were involved in order to foster the child with a residential community. Besides the therapeutic process, the article describes the role of the therapist out of the office: in order to proceed further with the therapy, and targeting the child wellness, a tight connection with the Social Services board was established and nurtured.

Keywords: Cognitive child psychotherapy, depression, family, health and social services.
