An important part of Francesco Galgano’s academic programme can be described as a long journey through the relationship between law and the business world. Notwithstanding his eminent profile as a professor of private and commercial law, his familiarity with an historical and sociological view of law enabled him to view changes to legal methods and institutions from this perspective, especially in the field of business and company law, together with their repercussions on social and economic dynamics. Through his many works on the subject, from the seventies of the last century to the recent years of globalization, it is possible to monitor the profound changes that have taken place not only in the business world and in legal relations, but also in the cultural climate and in the actors and protagonists on the legal scene.
