This paper describes the birth of an experiential group established within a public mental health service organization, illustrating its work. The group consisted of a structural psychologist, psychologists who were winners of scholarships or volunteers, and Graduate students in Psychology. The group was heterogeneous, as the members either graduated from or were still attending different courses in postgraduate schools. New members joined the group - which was open and of indefinite duration - according to their experience in terms of internship and voluntary attendance. This experience offers the opportunity for reflection on the subject of the development of psychotherapy, on the relationship between psychotherapy and organizations and on the difficulty of keeping group activity within a clinical dimension. The authors highlight the importance of group structure as an intermediate area between personal training and training in educational institutions, an area which is able to simplify the contrast between professional experience, theoretical models and the application of these in organizations.
