The author analyses the central role of sexuality in islamic culture. The place reserved to the male is absolutely fundamental. The confusion between the penis and the phallus is the product of an ideology that dominates society’s libidinal life. The virilism’s myth exaggerates and petrifies the cult of the virility: paradoxically the source of men’s strength comes from a culture that’s determined by the influence of the mother.

Keywords: Virility/virilism, penis/phallus, mother’s culture.
