This article discusses the reciprocal relationships between representations and territorial processes, and in particular it highlights how representations, in addition to photographing situations and transformations in progress, are able to influence the evolution of the processes represented. The representations are updated with the evolution of the forms of the territories, as well as the forms of the territories can be affected by their own representations. The relationship between representation and the represented territorial subject is therefore a circular co-evolution, according to which not only the territory acts on its representation but also the representation acts in turn on the represented territory, making the role of representation ambivalent both as a consequence and as a cause of the transformations.
