"What are the reasons that in little more than thirty years have led to this drastic change?" It is from this question that the author attempts to reconstruct, in a volume that collects the testimonies of more than fifty interviewees, the plot of a complex story that has marked, since the 80s, the decline of an entire area. A narrative that takes place on a double track, on the surface the informal living of the many mi¬grants who arrived in Castel Volturno, and in the background the economic, political, social and environmental crisis where the phenomena of coastal squatting, property speculation, the widespread network of organized crime and the impoverishment of environmental resources, not only constitute the framework within which these events are revealed but represent the root of the problem.
