With a slight delay compared to Anglo-Saxon countries, outcome assessment of psychological interventions is now being developed in Italy too, predominantly in the public health sector. Collecting objective data on the advances in psychological intervention is essential both on the level of individual therapy and on the organizational, legal and ethical levels. The authors present the main features of the Italian version of the CORE-OM (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation- Outcome Measure). This 34 item questionnaire is designed for routine use in outcome evaluation of psychological interventions. The acceptability of this questionnaire by both clinicians and patients explains why it is now submitted in many Italian psychology services. Finally, the authors present and comment the data collected in the Provincial Local Health Unit of Trento, from 2009 to 2012, and highlight the reliability and clinical significance of the changes occurring in the course of treatment.
