In recent decades, educational inequalities have emerged as a central issue in scientific and political debate. Factors such as gender, social background, migrant status, and economic conditions have a significant impact on educational pathways, creating cumulative advantages and disadvantages throughout students’ lives. This volume provides a detailed, multi-level picture of educational inequalities in Italy.

Il documento fornisce il quadro teorico e metodologico della prova INVALSI sulle competenze digitali, collocandola nel contesto della trasformazione digitale della società e del sistema educativo. Il documento analizza l’evoluzione del concetto di competenze digitali, le principali esperienze internazionali di misurazione e i metodi di valutazione, privilegiando le prove di performance rispetto all’autovalutazione.

This volume addresses key challenges in contemporary mathematics education from different yet complementary perspectives: linguistic complexity, socio-economic inequalities, the impact of the pandemic, teacher education, and the risk of school dropout.

In an increasingly complex educational landscape, access to and conscious use of data is key to understanding learning processes, reducing inequalities and supporting informed decision-making at instructional, institutional and policy levels. This volume explores how different data sources can contribute to a deeper understanding of how educational systems function, helping to improve students’ educational and professional opportunities.

Negli ultimi anni il sistema educativo italiano è stato chiamato a confrontarsi con sfide sempre più complesse. Il volume intende offrire spunti di riflessione e strumenti operativi per docenti, dirigenti scolastici, ricercatori e decisori politici, nella convinzione che il miglioramento dell’istruzione passi attraverso un approccio capace di coniugare merito e inclusione, innovazione ed equità.

Ideally, schools should provide equal opportunities for all students. However, they are often unable to avoid perpetuating the inequalities found in wider society. This topic was discussed at the VIII Seminar, ‘INVALSI data: a tool for teaching and scientific research’ (23-26 November 2023) and this volume comprises a selection of the contributions that were presented.

In an increasingly data-driven world, access to a wide range of information sources is essential for understanding complex phenomena and making informed decisions. For this reason, the Seminar on INVALSI data is open not only to papers and research using data produced by the Institute, but also to all data relevant to assessment in education and training, regardless of the source.

La scuola è il luogo dove si costruisce il futuro, dove si intrecciano conoscenze, relazioni e crescita, ed è un luogo di ricerca dove si esplora il senso dell’apprendere. Il testo propone un itinerario che intreccia dati, sperimentazioni e visioni, con l’obiettivo di offrire spunti concreti per una scuola che osserva, analizza e agisce.
