On 30 May 2015, the Civil Court of Rome decreed - for the first time in Europe - the discriminatory nature of a "nomad camp", a place that has long been recognised, both at home and abroad, as a space of ethnically-based segregation and discrimination. This note analyses the judgement and places it in the framework of considerations about public policy with regard to the Rom minority.
