MALTRATTAMENTO E ABUSO ALL’INFANZIA

Fascicolo: 2 / 2016

Donne immigrate e assistenza familiare. Una questione di identità lavorativa

PRISMA Economia - Società - Lavoro

Fascicolo: 1 / 2012

This article aims to demonstrate the importance of the biographical-narrative approach in the study of social inclusion of migrant women in the Italian labour market. The job position of migrant women is one of the most important elements to value the social inclusion of migrants in the public sphere. Their access to the labour market is limited to the domestic services often working illegally. These women are isolated and not integrated in the society where they live in. Many of the domestic workers are obliged to work in this sector as they have no other chance. A relationship of dependence is thus created with their employer, who often makes them work many hours and give them no spare time. The integration of autobiography in the migration studies, by adding the value of sharing individual stories to the liberating power of self-writing, can allow the migrant women to overcome the social exclusion and initiate a promoting a qualified integration.

More personal values, better soft skills: An explorative study with a group of Italian university students

RICERCHE DI PSICOLOGIA

Fascicolo: 3 / 2023

We live in a complex social world characterized by high levels of job insecurity and ever-changing work trends. In this context, hard skills alone are not enough to be hired and promoted, and soft skills have become a "musthave" for students and job seekers. Several research highlighted the positive role of some active learning methods in developing soft skills such as servicelearning.
However, personal characteristics might make people prone to be more skilled in specific areas than others. Thus, the present study aims to investigate the association between personal values and soft skills in a group of Italian university students. Two hundred forty-eight university students (women = 79.0%; Mage = 22.96, SD = 3.23) took part in the study. Participants completed the Portrait Values Questionnaire and the ERASMUS+K2 eLene4work Scale. Path analysis findings show several associations between the study’s variables. Personal-focused values are mainly associated with intrapersonal soft skills, while social-focused values are primarily related to interpersonal soft skills. Further significant relationships between values and soft skills emerge, especially in the case of openness to change and self-transcendence values. Limitations of the study, future research developments, and practical implications of the results are discussed.

Economics and History in Pantaleoni: Distances and Proximities

HISTORY OF ECONOMIC THOUGHT AND POLICY

Fascicolo: 1 / 2025

The significant presence of history in Pantaleoni’s writings, both in reference to ideas and economic facts, suggests caution against an interpretation of his position in the methodological debate between detractors and supporters of the positive interaction between economic theory and history that lacks nuance. This contribution aims to investigate – against the backdrop of the broader theme of the separation or useful contamination between economic and historical knowledge – the role that history can play, according to Pantaleoni, for an economic science that aspires to be “pure”. To this end, it examines both his writings and discussions on the topic with other economist colleagues. Finally, some reflections are proposed on the issue of generality versus historical specificity in the development of economic theory today.

Policies For Social Integration and Inclusion in Political Life Favouring Non-EU Foreigners in Brescia (by Claudia Rosso) - ABSTRACT: This article analyses the steps taken by the Brescia municipal council in favour of immigrants from outside the European Union, focusing attention in particular on actions implemented to promote their social integration and inclusion in political life in the municipal community. The study sets out to extrapolate the model of inclusion devised and implemented by the local government in general, by checking whether the city council has actually acted in such a way as to guarantee that the foreigners in question enjoy citizenship rights as a whole or just in part (with regard to the social or political component), and whether it has safeguarded those rights’ usability on a par with the conditions enjoyed by native citizens. Building on its analysis of public policies in favour of immigrants, the research then set out to collect opinions from the individuals directly concerned with these policies, through the associations they have organised in the city. The results of this survey were then used to compile a quantitative and qualitative map of perceived expectations vis-à-vis the host community, focusing on strong points and the more important weaknesses. By analysing both secondary sources (circulars, plans and completed projects) and primary sources (a semi-structured questionnaire and more extensive interviews), the survey highlights the processes both of inclusion and of partial exclusion promoted by the local government, before finally pinpointing the most critical areas that still act as barriers to achieving a model of substantial integration of foreigners aiming at the recognition of their rights of citizenship as a whole.
