L’intervista ripercorre la traiettoria scientifica di Christian Topalov con particolare riferimentoal rapporto tra storia e scienze sociali.
All’età di 84 anni Carlo Capra, uno dei fondatori di “Società e storia” nel lontano 1978, risponde ad alcune domande circa la sua esperienza di studioso e di docente di storia. Tra l’altro riflette sul rapporto tra sette e ottocento nel caso italiano e sottolinea l’importanza di affiancare alla ricerca originale anche saggi e libri rivolti al più vasto pubblico.

Parlando con la sua intervistatrice Lowen affronta i temi dell’empatia, della relazione terapeutica, la gestione dei conflitti interpersonali e nelle organizzazioni.
Jacques de Larosière (born 1929) played for more than half a century an influential role on the international monetary scene. He was Director of the French Treasury, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Governor of the Banque de France and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). In 2008, at the age of 79 years, he chaired the so-called De Larosière Committee which provided the blueprint for a fundamental reform of financial supervision in the European Union. Highlights of his career were the management of the Mexican debt crisis in the 1980s and his role in the process of economic and monetary integration in Europe, especially as a member of the Delors Committee. In his analyses he focuses on the "financialization" of our econ-omies and the ensuing problems with debt and asset price bubbles, for which the breakdown of the Bretton Woods system was an important cause. As part of a research program on collecting memories, this paper publishes the results of several interviews and discussions with him.
Psychotherapy and "scientific" research - Some problems of the relationship between psychotherapy and scientific research are examined. The following aspects are discussed: the theory of demarcation between science and non-science, the problem of replicability, "hard" and "soft" sciences, complexity and chaos theory, the levels of probability and indeterminacy, the inductive-deductive circle, abduction, etc. Clinical material is presented in order to exemplify the issues under discussion. Some of the problems met by empirical research in psychotherapy (for example the manualization of psychotherapy techniques) are described, and the phases of the history of psychotherapy research movement are summarized. L’autore risponde in modo affermativo alla domanda contenuta nel titolo dell’articolo di Lawrence Friedman "Esiste un Heidegger utilizzabile dagli psicoanalisti?", pubblicato sul n. 3/2016 del Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association e ripubblicato nelle pagine precedenti di questo n. 4/2018 di Psicoterapia e Scienze Umane. Nel rispondere a questa domanda, viene tracciato il percorso intellettuale che ha portato l’autore a studiare Essere e tempo di Heidegger e ad approfondire la sua analitica esistenziale. In particolare, viene discussa la fenomenologia dell’angoscia (Angst) e del trauma.
