AB -   This article analyzes the concept of «symbolic capital» in Pierre Bourdieu and its implications for the action, stratification and social order theory. The «general economy of social practice» that Bordieu tries to construct on the basis of this fundamental concept can’t be compared to economicism and utilitarianism. It represents a vision of society in which the actors are involved in social games where different prizes, from the more concrete ones to the more abstract and ideal ones, such as conquering beauty or truth, are at stake.
