This article reconstructs the court case and media coverage regarding the skull of Giuseppe Villella, displayed in the Lombroso Museum, as well as the positions of the main protagonists of the controversy and the risks that the historical revisionism on the Risorgimento interpreted as colonial conquest poses to Italian cultural heritage and the formation of public opinion.
