The interview is a major vehicle for production of political news. Media studies forget that news interview is a social interaction and in this sense it should be analyzed. For this reason Conversation Analysis approaches are very useful to understand how broadcast news interviews are shaped. Using date from Lucia Annunziata’s interview to Silvio Berlusconi on the television programme In mezz’ora, this paper aims to demonstrate the relevance of the collaboration between interviewed and interviewer and the relevance of the question-answer framework for the success of the news interview. That does not mean that a journalist should not take a critical stance but the adversarial treatment of public figures should be reached through the action question exclusively.
