Ambivalence in pregnancy: A comparison between mothers of twins and singletons - The present contribution focused on attitudes towards pregnancy by exami-ning a sample of future mothers of twins and of single babies. We used the Esses & Maio’s tool within the theoretical framework of multi-component perspective on attitudes. The twin pregnancy emerged as less known and therefore more subject to positive and negative thoughts. The former can be found much more in women who had sought and desired pregnancy and the latter in those who had neither sought nor desired it: it confirms the impor-tance of creating a mental space for the child. The ambivalence between cognitive and emotional aspects did not show significant differences in the two samples and it is considered as a result of balancing the polarization. Key words: pregnancy, attitudes, twins, ambivalence, singleton.
