Legacy of Mega Events: A Comparison between Barcelona, Genoa and Turin (Paper first received, January 2008; in final form, October 2008) Abstract The article proposes an analysis of the processes of transformation and accumulation of "territorial capital" in three cities that hosted mega-events. The aim of the paper is to test a method of analysis in order to propose interpretations concerning the role of mega-events as urban development tools. Distinguishing three different dimensions of capital (fixed, reticular and relational), the analysis proposes a methodological framework based on the evaluation (through interviews, scientific literature, plans and data) of each dimension. This methodology is then applied in order to propose a comparison, through the construction of polar diagrams, between Barcelona, Genoa and Turin, cities recently at the center of major transformations related to the organisation of mega-events (Olympic Games, European Capital of Culture, etc.).

Keywords: Mega-events, territorializzazione, territorial capital.
