From the seashore to the high sea. The relationship between family ties and autonomy - In this article we re-read the case history in a relational systemic point of view. S. is a man of 24 years with somatic symptoms and difficulty in emotional expression. The traumatic event is a trigger of symptoms as representative of difficulty relating to auto- nomous initiatives. Family therapy that had enabled the family resources would help further reduce the anxiety related to her need for autonomy.
