In this article I try to clarify the affinities that link the sphere of dreams to that of artistic activity and, in particular, to that of poetry, accepting as a given the existence of notable differences, the main one being that dreams evade the will and the responsibility of the subject. The affinities have an intuitive and a logical nature and can be primarily united in the binomial signs/dreams (segni/sogni), which distinguish them at a graphic and phonic level.
