In the last decades, in order to reach a better quality in education - which is not disjointed from the need of restraint of the public costs and a profitable use of available resources - governments pursues a new educational policies: they re-modulated the educational cycles, they realized curricular reforms and in the end they put up institutions for the educational evaluation. How to evaluate the effectiveness of these reforms? The "education policy evaluation" offers a judgement, on the basis of a controlled research process, concerning the properness, the relevance, the opportunity and the efficacy of interventions carried out. This paper examines some dimensions, uses and purposes of the education policy evaluation and presents various evaluation lessons based on national and international experiences.
