The work flexibility - the employee-employer relationship - consists of at least three components: the modulation of working time, the contractual form and the work organization. The main objective of this paper is the construction of synthetic indicators capable of measuring the level of flexibility, both as individual and aggregate. Furthermore, the analysis of these issues - through the lens of law, economics and statistics - allows for a better identification of the flexibility provided, in relation to temporary instances or for purposes other than those prescribed by Law. It can be stated moreover that the most important economic and social costs of flexibility are related to this last case. Data source: Isfol Plus 2008.
