Thirty years after an ethnographic study on a cité of the Seine-Maritime, the authors come back to meet the old residents, but that cité has been destroyed. There are no more hints of it. Just with a picture of thirty years before, the authors walk again on the streets of the city with some basic questions: "How was concluded the relocation, which are the results of this cité de transit, and which is the history of events connected to the displacement and replacement?". The memory of this cité is reconstructed through personal stories and archive documents, and the authors consider such cité as "inhabited" by four recurrent ghosts: the insalubrity and the poor housing conditions, the "exceptional" story of a local outlaw, the collective insolvency and the legal offices, the social endogamy and its consequences.
