The image of immigrants that was channelled by the media has influenced the Italian public opinion leading to some ambivalent attitudes. On the one hand, citizens show solidarity toward immigrants, but on the other hand they are worried about their growing presence in Italy. Making use of the Itanes dataset and applying multivariate statistical techniques, this work analyses, synchronically and longitudinally, the transformations in the relationship between the Italians and immigrants.
